Heavy Vehicle Used Tax Filing
HVUT is a tax on heavy highway vehicles. IRS Schedule 1 Form 2290 is used for the payment. A tax filing service authorized by the IRS provides electronic filing for HVUT.
For vehicles with more than 25 registered owners, online filing is mandatory. The IRS recommends filing electronically even if you do not own a lot of vehicles. Choose an online e-filer that is secure and authorized. Tax money is used to maintain and improve roads, which is what the government does with the money it receives from taxes.
July is the peak month for paying your HVUT. You can pay your taxes until June of the following year.
The following information will be needed when you file.
• Information about the company and its name
• VINs (Vehicle Identification Numbers)
• Vehicle count
• Weighing the vehicles based on their gross weight
